Red Fort: The Red Fort is one of the most famous attractions of Delhi, India. It is a venue to the Independence Day parade of India. This fascinating building was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan after shifting his capital from Agra to Shahjahanabad. The foundation of this magnificent fort was laid in 1653 and completed in 1648. Built of red sandstone and octagonal in shape, this fort is the fine example of Mughal architecture.
Jama Masjid: Jama Masjid is the largest mosque of India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1650 AD.
Humayun’s Tomb: Humayun’s Tomb is another important tourist attraction of Delhi city. After death of Mughal emperor Humayun, this beautiful tomb was constructed in supervision of his Persian wife Hamida Begum. It was designed by Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyuath based on the description of Islamic paradise gardens. This architecturally beautiful monument is situated on the bank of River Yamuna.
Qutub Minar: Qutubuddin Aibak laid the foundation of Qutub Minar, as a victory tower, in 1199 AD. Iltutmish, the son-in-law and successor of Qutubuddin, completed its construction. It is the highest red sand stone tower of India. This is the oldest historical monument in Delhi and is a must for any visitor to this city.
India Gate: Originally known as the All India War Memorial, India Gate was built in the memory of unknown soldiers who lost their lives the First World War and second afghan war. The height of this monument is 42.5 meter. It was designed and built by Edwin Lutyens in 1931.
