Konark Sun Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated on the shores of the By of Bengal at Konark in Puri district in the Indian state of Orissa. Bathed in the rays of the rising sun, the Sun Temple at Konark is an architecturally beautiful temple attraction in India. It was declared as a World Heritage Site in 1984. It is also one of Seven Wonders of India and appeal tourists from all over the world.
The marvelous architecture of the temple takes the form of Chariot of Surya Dev (Sun God) with 24 wheels which are heavily decorated with stone carvings. The chariot is led by a team of six horses. The temple symbolizes the imposing pace of the Surya Dev (the Sun god). Built in 13th century the Konark Temple is one of the most famous India’s Brahman’s temples. Nata Mandir is situated at the entrance of the Sun Temple. Nata Mandir is the temple where temple dancers used to perform dances to pay the homage to the Surya Devta (the Sun God).
The walls of the temple are ornamented with various geometric and floral designs. On the walls there are human, divine and semi-divine sculptures in sensuous poses. There are many intricately carved sculptures of coupes on the walls showing various erotic and amorous poses, derived from the Kama-Sutra. Many of sculptures of the temple are now partially in ruins. These sculptures are housed in the Sun Temple Museum. The museum is run by the Archaeological Survey of India. Indeed, the Konark Sun Temple is a worth visit attraction in India.

By Air : The nearest airport to reach at Konark is at Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Orissa. Bhubaneswar is at the distance of 64 km away from Konark. Bhubaneswar Airport is well connected by domestic flights with cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Nagpur, Chennai, Hyderabad, etc.
By Train : Puri is the nearest railhead to reach at Konark. It is about 31 km away from Konark.
